Aerials

Domestic Aerial Installations

When choosing an analogue or digital aerial for your home, there are various factors that you need to take into consideration, all of which we will discuss with you and then advise you on your best option.

There are a number of reasons for upgrading or replacing your existing aerial such as poor reception from your analogue aerial, a damaged or old system, or finding your freeview reception either freezing or ‘blocking’, where you will see visible squares or ‘pixels’ on the screen for a few seconds, interrupting your viewing.

The main reason in our professional opinion, is that you should now be seriously thinking about replacing your current analogue aerial with a ‘future proof’ digital aerial in preparation for the Digital Switchover.

You can read more about it on the Digital Switchover page, but essentially, it’s a Government initiative to switch the analogue signal into your television with a digital signal, and for that to occur, you will need an aerial capable of carrying a digital signal.

Talk to us today and we will guide you easily through this sometime confusing subject.

Distribution & Playback

‘Distribution’ in this sense refers to the ability to ‘distribute’ your analogue signal from your aerial to more than one source throughout the house. If you have more than one aerial point and you want to watch television in more than one room, the expert engineers at TVAV Installations will install a small distribution amplifier that will carry the signal to each TV in the house.

‘Playback’ offers the viewer the ability to control and change channels from the Sky receiver attached to the main television, from other rooms in the house. It’s a simple process that is added to your existing system and involves the use of a small, discreet Sky Link – a small, infrared computer mouse-shaped device that sits on top of your television and allows you full control over the main Sky receiver from any room in the house.

Playback not only works with Sky, but it can be easily configured to work with your existing VHS, DVD and freeview receiver.

Fixed European Satellites

A fixed satellite dish differs from a motorised dish in one fundamental way. With a motorised dish, you can select the channel you require from a variety of orbiting satellites covering foreign-language channels across Europe and the Middle East, and once selected, the dish will align itself to your chosen satellite. A fixed dish allows you access to only one, or in some cases, two satellite at any given time.

If you only want to receive channels from say, Turkey, then we will install your dish and align the LNB to receive only Turkish channels, however if you decide at a later date you want to watch TV in French, then we will have to manually realign the dish and you will no longer receive the Turkish channels.

At TVAV Installations we can advise you on optimum dish size and location, exactly what satellites and channels you can receive and the various systems available to you. Contact us today.

Motorised Satellite Systems

A motorised satellite system allows you to receive digital TV signals from a variety of orbiting satellites, incorporating thousands of free-to-air and subscription-based TV channels from all over Europe and the Middle East.

One of the key features of a motorised system is that your receiver can be pre-programmed to receive digital signals from a wide range of transmitting satellites. When you want to change channel, your dish will automatically reposition itself and lock onto the signal from your chosen location with no need for any manual configuration.

Additionally, there are a whole host of subscription-based, encrypted and scrambled channels being broadcast throughout Europe and the Middle East which require additional decryption viewing cards and occasionally, extra hardware. This includes a Conditional Access Module (CAM), an interface that fits into any standard CI (Common Interface) and accepts cards to decrypt specific subscription channels.

For more information and advice about motorised satellite systems, and to arrange a site visit from one of our professional installation experts, please contact TVAV Installations today.

Plasma & LCD Installations

Installing a plasma or LCD TV on your own is inadvisable, potentially dangerous and can seriously affect your viewing pleasure.

At TVAV Installations, we will install your television using the desired wall mountings – including hang flat, swivel and tilting brackets – and cable routings. We will also make sure that all of your AV hardware, including your satellite, DVD/VHS and surround sound systems are fully configured to operate at their optimum levels.

One of the most critical aspects of the installation is the adequate planning of your viewing area. One of our professional installation engineers can come on-site and advise you how and where to position your TV for correct viewing distances and angles that are crucial to get the best out of your LCD or plasma.

In addition to installing your product, we know that there still remains some confusion about the differences between LCD and plasma televisions, and what is right for each particular customer. Please contact us and we will explain everything you need to know.
