1. Do I need planning permission, listed building consent or owners/landlords consent to have a satellite dish or a motorised satellite system installed?
Satellite dishes smaller than 80cm in diameter don’t need Planning Permission. If the property you live in is a listed building, or is situated in a ‘designated area’, please contact the planning department of your local council. Additionally, please call TVAV Installations for alternative solutions.
2. Do I need to be at home when the satellite dish or aerial is being installed?
You do need to be at home because after the dish has been installed, we’ll need access to your television to ensure all aspects of the system are working correctly.
3. What packages do you offer?
Details of our packages can be seen in the Services section of our site.
4. Are you a registered Sky installation company?
Yes, TVAV Installations is an Approved Sky Agent (ASA).
5. Are you a member of any industry bodies, most importantly RDI-LB?
TVAV Installations have applied for membership to the Registered Digital Installers Licensing Body (RDI-LB) and our installers are currently undertaking the associated NVQ qualifications.
6. I have Sky but want to upgrade to Sky+. What do I need to do?
It’s simple, just call TVAV Installations to arrange an upgrade and we’ll make sure you have everything you need
7. What do I need to do if I want to watch channels from Europe or the Middle East?
There are a number of different options available to you. Please contact us to discuss your individual requirements and we will talk you through exactly what you need to know.
8. What is the difference between freesat and Freeview?
Please see the freesat and Freeview pages in the ‘Television via Satellite Dish’ and ‘Television via Aerial’ sections of the website. If you have any further questions, contact us and we’ll be happy to answer them for you.
9. Why can’t I watch SkyHD channels on my normal SD (Standard Definition) TV?
To watch High Definition channels on Sky you need to have a HD ready TV. Please contact us and we will tell you everything you need to know about optimum HD TV viewing.
10. Is my existing aerial OK to use with Freeview or will I need an upgrade?
This is dependant on a number of factors so please contact us to discuss your current situation.
11. Do you need to come on-site or can you quote on the phone?
Based on what you tell us, we can give you a basic quote over the phone, but we will certainly need to make a site visit to give you a detailed quote for any work to be carried out.
12. I live alone; do you have to have access to my house?
Yes we do. After we have carried out the work, we need to make sure that everything is working properly which means brief access to your television.
13. Can you give me advice on the Digital Switchover?
Yes we can. Please read the section of the website entitled ‘Digital Switchover’, or if you have any other specific questions that aren’t covered, please contact us and we’ll be glad to answer them for you.
14. Are you insured?
Yes, TVAV Installations has full insurance.
